Block Island Conservancy is a grass-roots, homegrown, non-profit charitable organization working to preserve Block Island’s unique characteristics: the harmony of land and sea, field and shore, wildlife and human life, and its natural heritage and rural character. With contributions large and small from island residents, summer cottagers, vacationers, visitors and conservation supporters, BIC has acquired and protected over 200 acres as open space in perpetuity. This land is maintained as a habitat for birds and animals, for viewshed protection of hills rolling to the sea, and for providing walking trails for quiet recreation to residents and visitors alike. You can be a part of this effort; you can help preserve the natural beauty and wonderful qualities that sparked your interest in and attraction to this tiny island.
Our office and Education Center is located at 234 Weldon’s Way, Block Island. Please call 401-367-4849 for our office hours. Our answering machine is also frequently monitored. If you would like to leave a message, please do so, and we will respond promptly. Otherwise, drop us a note (P.O. Box 84, Block Island, RI 02807 or [email protected]) with your comments and suggestions and hopefully your contribution. We look forward to your participation and support!
